Tag Tuesday 1/17

Another Tuesday and the theme is simply "white". I don't usually go to fabric as my first choice, especially for tags, but there was something about white, which seemed to lend itself. I'm not alone. I have already seen many, very beautiful fabric pieces posted for the week with textiles. Here's how I got started.

I printed out this femme fatale from the amazing Graphics Fairy collection. I had already found my quote: "I used to be Snow White, but I drifted" — Mae West, and knew I needed a sweet but tart girl to fill her shoes. She is printed out on white cotton. I pulled together all the white bits of discarded jewelry and trim I could find. Not a ton, but enough and began to play around.

I layered netting, a manilla tag (for support) and parchment paper, underneath the fabric print. This time I experimented with a little spray adhesive to keep things from slipping while sewing on the machine. It really helped. Also, I didn't pretrim this time, so if things did slip, I had room to move anyway. I went back and added a bit of trim and crepe paper at the bottom. Everything was then trimmed to the tag shape, and I sewed a few crystal beads to the bottom (they don't show up so well), and a rhinestone brad to the top.
I'm off to post on Tag Tuesday. Go have a look yourself! Tag Tuesday
